How much is your domain really worth?
When you need to know how much a domain name is worth, DomainAppraisal.ca is an industry leader and sanctioned by the Domain Dealers Association of Canada (DDAC).

Each domain appraisal order is thoroughly researched by a qualified appraiser. We evaluate the merits of your domain name based on value indicators. We take into account comparable's (recent similar sales), commercial development potential, market comprehension (does it make sense for the target market), recall value (is it easy to remember), length of characters and basic extension value (.CA, .COM, .NET, .US, .ORG, .BIZ, .INFO, etc.)

Our services are based on a Four Point Appraisal System that is both realistic and practical. Customers receive appraisals that are given an unbiased fair market value. DomainAppraisal.ca has the most competitive and cost effective services on the web.

Why have your domain names appraised?
A domain name is a direct comparable to real estate. Therefore, when you're looking to buy a home, you want to be sure that the seller is asking a fair price. When you're looking to sell your home you want to make sure you're going to receive fair market value for your property. In most cases, a real estate agency will act as a third party and set a value on the property in relation to a number of factors including location, condition and recent sales.

Domain names are very similar. Both buyer and seller need to know the Fair Market Value (FMV) of the domain name. This is where a certified appraisal from DomainAppraisal.ca will establish a FMV for the domain name. It lets the seller know what to expect to receive, and it lets the buyer know that an independent third-party has systematically estimated the value of the domain name.

Appraisal Rating System
We rate 4 categories of major interest!

1.) Commercial Use: Does the name have great market potential? Does the domain name actually have the potential to be built into a commercial web site?

2.) Name Awareness and Brand Recognition: Is the name easy to remember? Is it easy to trademark? Is the name worthy of becoming a "Brand Name"?

3.) Character Length of Name: How long is the name? In most cases, the fewer amount of characters in the name, the higher the value.

4.) Dot (extension) Value: What extension does the name have? Is it a .ca, .com, .net, .us, .org, or a different extension?

Appraisal FAQ
Why would I need an appraisal?
Appraisals give you an accurate understanding of your domain's worth. An independent appraisal company will evaluate your name and give you a neutral or unbiased opinion. Receiving an independent appraisal will tell you how much a professional in the domain industry feels your domain is worth. An appraisal is also a great tool in selling your domain. The company or person buying a domain will feel much more comfortable with the purchase if an independent appraisal company has appraised your domain name. This will give you a firm standing in any negotiations that may take place during the sale of your domain.

How much does an appraisal cost?
Appraisals vary in price by type of appraisal ordered (Standard or Premium).
See a list of prices for our appraisal services.

Why are free appraisals not accurate?
Free appraisals are not accurate because they are usually written by a non professional, who lacks understanding of the domain name market. The free appraisal usually comes with a gimmick (such as, "buy this domain name from us and we'll throw in a free appraisal"). Any buyer interested in buying a domain name will always use a professional appraiser to get an accurate value so they know that they are getting the best deal they can. Using these free systems is detrimental to accurate pricing.

What types of domain names (extensions) do you appraise?
We appraise all TLD's. We appraise any and all domain extension types. Here are the most common extensions we come across, but not limited to: .ca, .com, .net, .org, .us, .info, .name, .biz and .tv.

How do I receive my appraisal?
Your appraisal will be sent to you by regular mail and notification by email

How long will it take to receive my appraisal?
Appraisals may take up to 10 business days to complete, but most of our appraisals are completed within 5 business days. It also depends on the volume of orders we have received. We require this time to ensure we can perform all of the necessary research.

Are your appraisals automated or computer generated?
No. Appraisal services are not automated. An appraiser looks at each domain name and uniquely evaluates it, guaranteeing that your appraisal has independent and personalized attention. Professional appraisers will provide accurate information unlike a generic computer program.
